I have chosen to make my statement with drawings of people. Since the age of three, I have been enamored with the figure and its lyrical placement in space. Faces are seldom shown in my work, thus allowing the body to gesture mood. I want my moods to be timeless but without age. I wish to champion the spirit's renewal—its springtime.

Michael Martin captures the emotions and essences of life through pencil drawing portrayals of children. An honor graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Martin's work has appeared in one-man and group shows in Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio and New York. They include Sagittarius and American Realist Galleries, New York; Chicago Art Institute; Audobon and the National Academy of Design, New York; and Butler Institute of American Art, Youngstown, Ohio. His work is in the corporate collections of Kemper Insurance, Bell Telephone, Jupiter Corp., American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Woodworking Corp. of America, all in Chicago, among others.
